ECE 5324 - Power System Planning (3C)

Course Description

A study of generation planning, bulk power supply systems, production costing analysis and load forecasting. Dispersed generation. Electric power system reliability and stability.

Why take this course?

Issues related to the planning and evaluation of an electric power system need to be studied for successful design of a new system, or improvement of an existing one. This course will provide the background material to prepare the student for analyzing various elements that constitute the power system planning function.

Learning Objectives

  • use the tools required to analyze and evaluate an electric power system for generation planning and load forecasting, and
  • execute production costing analysis and long term generation expansion plans in a deregulated environment
