Virginia Tech MEng--Northern VirginiaThe Virginia Tech Research Center — Arlington, at 900 N. Glebe Road, is a highly visible state-of-the-art facility designed to further the university’s mission to expand its research portfolio in the National Capital Region. The region offers great opportunity for partnerships with corporate research entities and close proximity to government agencies and other public and private-sector organizations. The building is located in the vibrant Ballston district of Arlington, a short distance from many of the leading science and research agencies of the federal government and many high-technology companies.

The seven-floor, 144,000-square-foot Virginia Tech Research Center — Arlington is U.S. Green Council LEED-certified. The interior, designed by Gensler, includes computational laboratories, offices, and an Executive Briefing Center (EBC) to accommodate meetings, forums, symposia, and other events. The EBC is available to the science and technology communities throughout the region for meetings and events not specifically related to the university, and two of the seven floors in the building not occupied by Virginia Tech are for commercial lease.

Future Home | Innovation Campus

Located on U.S. Route 1 in Alexandria near National Landing, roughly a mile from Amazon’s HQ2, the Innovation Campus is a first-of-its-kind effort for Virginia and the Washington, D.C. region. The 1,000,000-square-foot campus is a revolutionary model for graduate-level education that fuses academics, research, and industry. This unique mix of academic and research space, co-located with business and industry partners where students and faculty live and work, will be a collaborative magnet for leading tech talent, research, and education. It will include:

  • ~300,000 square feet of academic space and cutting-edge R&D facilities.
  • ~250,000 square feet of partner space dedicated to startups and corporate facilities.
  • ~350,000 square feet of housing space for students and faculty.
  • ~100,000 square feet of retail and support spaces.

The first 100 master’s degree students will enroll in 2019 in temporary space, with the campus hosting a total of 500 master’s degree students within five years and, at scale, enrolling 750 master’s degree candidates and training hundreds of doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows.
