ECE doctoral student Anibal Sanjab received the Best Student Paper Award for the 2015 IEEE International Conference on Smart Grid Communications.
The paper, titled "Smart Grid Data Injection Attacks: To Defend or Not?” was co-authored by Sanjab’s advisor, Walid Saad. The paper developed a framework to understand how to defend a smart power grid against multiple adversaries attempting to inject malicious data into the grid’s vulnerable points.
Sanjab presented his paper at SmartGridComm 2015, which was held in Miami, Fla., from Nov. 2-5. The conference drew over 400 researchers and practitioners engaged in information and communication technology for the smart grid.
