Accelerated ECE UGG Program

Earn both your BS and a graduate degree (MEng, MS, or PhD in EE or CPE) by double-counting up to 12 credit hours during your final undergrad year.
Eligibility
- Must be a Virginia Tech undergrad with an overall GPA of 3.3
- Apply within 12 months of expected BS graduation
- Must be accepted before taking double-counted courses
Deadlines
All materials must be submitted before processing begins.
- Fall start: Apply by May 15
Processing starts after spring grades are posted. - Spring start: Apply by Dec 15
Processing starts after fall grades are posted.

- Choose your program: EE or CPE
- Apply for the semester following your BS graduation
- No GRE required
- Include 2 recommendation letters
Not required for MEng. - Pay the $75 application fee
Ask about the info session each semester for potential fee waivers.
- Submit the accelerated UG/GR degree course designation request.
- Review double counted courses with your ECE Undergraduate Advisor
- Obtain the required signature from your ECE Graduate Faculty Advisor (depending on program):

Dr. Jones for CPE - Upload completed course designation request to the ECE Form Submission and in your graduate school online application form.
- Update approved course designation request if course selections change.
- Submit your transcript.
Not needed if all coursework is from Virginia Tech.
- Max 12 credits can be double-counted
- Courses can only be double-counted during the final two semesters
- Only 6 credits can be 4xxx-level, the rest must be 5XXX or above.
- Must earn B or better in each double-counted course
- No graduate credit for capstone, 4974, or 4994 courses
- Available at Blacksburg, NCR, and Virtual campuses
