ECE Supplemental Graduate Fellowships and Scholarships

The Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers a number of supplemental fellowships and scholarships that are awarded to ECE graduate students in addition to a Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA) or Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA). For consideration for these awards, applicants to an ECE graduate degree program may reference these supplemental funding opportunities in their Statement of Purpose. These awards are made to both entering and continuing ECE graduate students. Inquiries about these supplemental graduate fellowships and scholarship may be made by writing to vt.ece.gradadm@vt.edu

Davenport Fellowship

A supplemental fellowship awarded for excellence in scholarship to ECE graduate students. A thank you note to the sponsor is required from the recipient. This variable amount supplement scholarship is awarded once per year.

Hume Fellowship

A two-year supplemental fellowship for $4,000/year awarded to ECE graduate students who are US Citizens. This fellowship is bestowed upon ECE graduate students that show exceptional promise in fields supporting national security. Awardees are required to attend the annual Hume Center National Security Colloquium and make a poster presentation.

Johnson Fellowship

A supplemental fellowship awarded for excellence in scholarship to ECE graduate students who are US Citizens. A thank you note to the sponsor is required from the recipient. This variable amount supplement scholarship is awarded once per year.

Prasad Fellowship

A variable amount supplemental research fellowship awarded to ECE graduate students awarded based on academic excellence and superior research potential.

Pratt Fellowship

A variable amount supplement scholarship awarded once per year to ECE graduate students based on excellence in scholarship.

Collins Aerospace Fellowship (company formerly known as United Technologies Aerospace Systems)

A supplemental fellowship of $5,000 awarded to ECE graduate students who are studying technology associated with power electronics or wireless systems. The fellowship award is based on the student’s academic and research performance with preference given to students interested in aerospace or who have interned with Collins Aerospace, Rockwell Collins, or one of United Technologies Corporation’s associated companies. Awardees are referred to as “Collins Aerospace” Scholars. US Citizenship is required.

VT Wireless Fellowship

A one-year supplemental fellowship for $3,000 awarded by Wireless @ Virginia Tech through a contribution from The Virginia Wireless Association. The scholarship will fund recipients within the VA Tech Wireless Program that demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in wireless communications or broadband technology upon graduation. US Citizenship is required.
