Whether in research and developement, leadership, or service, ECE alumni are changing the world. To recognize their contributions, the ECE department created its Academy of Distinguished Alumni.

We seek to recognize individuals affiliated with the department for exemplary contributions to industry or academia.

Meritorious Service Award

Sustained, outstanding volunteer service to the ECE Department, recognizing up to two alumni annually who ensure the ECE Department’s mission through outstanding volunteer activities. This includes recruiting of ECE students for jobs, as well as recruitment of students to ECE.

Exemplary Giving Award

Recognizing up to three individuals annually who champion the ECE Department’s mission through outstanding philanthropic service.

Extraordinary Impact Award

Recognizing up to two (per year) alumni who have demonstrated an extraordinary and impactful accomplishment that improves people’s lives, especially when their life’s work represents intellectual integrity, informed ethical values, a focus on public service, and demonstrated leadership.

Career Achievement Award

Recognizing one (1) individual who has demonstrated all of the following:

  • Service to electrical and computer engineering or a related profession, through IEEE or other professional organizations, speaking engagements, and other avenues.
  • Extraordinary accomplishments and/or stature in professional career.
  • Longevity, consistency, and quality of professional contributions, accomplishments, and accolades/honors, including scholarship and administrative appointments for those employed in academia.
