Open Rank Faculty Position (Tenure-Track)

The Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Virginia Tech seeks applications for a tenured/tenure track position at any rank. Located in either Blacksburg or Arlington, VA, the tenure track position is open to all areas of ECE research, with preference for the area of Data Science for Health. We are seeking candidates motivated to contribute to a collegial, interdisciplinary community with a strong tradition of both fundamental and applied research.

Required qualifications of Tenured/Tenure-Track Applicants:

A Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computer engineering or a closely related field completed prior to employment; effective communication skills; demonstrated excellence in research, scholarship, and teaching, or evidence of high potential for such excellence; experience with and commitment to interdisciplinary research and instruction and a willingness to expand disciplinary boundaries to address complex technical and societal challenges; ability to articulate a coherent agenda of research and scholarship, and to identify potential funding sources to support such research; willingness and ability to work in a technology-based research and education environment, such as is characterized by use of learning technologies, distance learning, online courses, video-conferencing, and network-based collaborative research.

Preferred qualifications of Tenured/Tenure-Track Applicants:

Interest or experience working effectively with a diverse student population; prior experience in the role of PI or Co-PI on funded research projects; ability and willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines. Experience in working with students as an academic or career advisor, overseeing student internships or service-learning activities; interest or experience in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in research.

Collegiate Assistant/Associate Faculty Position

The Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Virginia Tech seeks applications to fill a non-tenure open rank collegiate faculty position. The position is at the collegiate assistant or associate professor level. Located in Blacksburg, it will primarily contribute to the ECE undergraduate program, especially in Computer Engineering. We are seeking candidates motivated to contribute to a collegial, interdisciplinary community with a strong tradition of both fundamental and applied research.

Required qualifications of Collegiate Faculty Applicants

A PhD degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a closely related field completed prior to employment; effective communication skills; previous teaching experience at the graduate level in ECE or a related field; a strong record of academic accomplishments; a proven ability to work collaboratively; experience with and commitment to interdisciplinary research and instruction and a willingness to cross disciplinary boundaries to address complex technical and societal challenges.

Preferred qualifications of Collegiate Faculty Applicants

Located in Arlington, VA, it is part of the Master of Information Technology and MS/PhD programs. We are seeking candidates motivated to contribute to a collegial, interdisciplinary community with a strong tradition of both fundamental and applied research.
