Alum named IEEE Fellow
January 3, 2017

Former ECE doctoral student Fangxing Li (Ph.D. 2001) was named IEEE Fellow for his contributions to locational marginal price calculation.
The status of Fellow is one of the most prestigious honors of the institute, bestowed upon less than one-tenth of one percent of the annual voting membership of IEEE.
Li received his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech in 2001. Advised by ECE's Robert Broadwater, Li's dissertation topic focused on power system computing. After working at ABB Electrical System Consulting, Li joined the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He was recently awarded the James C. McConnell Professorship.
