Harpreet Dhillon

August 26, 2014 — Harpreet Dhillon has joined the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as an assistant professor. He will work with the Wireless@VT group, focusing on several aspects of communication theory, stochastic geometry, energy harvesting, and wireless ad hoc and heterogeneous cellular networks.

Dhillon was recently awarded the 2014 IEEE Communications Society Leonard G. Abraham Prize for the best paper published in the IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications in the previous three calendar years. He has been a co-author of two more best paper award recipients: the 2013 IEEE International Conference in Communications (ICC) Best Paper Award in Wireless Communications Symposium, and the 2014 European Wireless Best Student Paper Award.

Dhillon earned his B. Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati in 2008, MS from Virginia Tech in 2010, and his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2013. He joins Virginia Tech from the University of Southern California, where he was a Viterbi Postdoctoral Fellow for about one year.
