ECE alumni elected officers of Power and Energy Society

Noel Schulz
November 12, 2009 — Noel N. Schulz (BSEE 1988, MSEE 1990) was elected president-elect of the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES), and Miroslav M. Begovic (Ph.D. EE 1989) was elected treasurer. The ECE alumni will serve a two-year term beginning January 1, 2010. Schulz, who served as treasurer of the Power and Energy Society in the last term, will serve two years as president-elect, two years as president, and two years as former president of PES.
The PES is an association of 24,000 people involved in the electrical power energy industry. The society publishes Power and Energy Magazine and organizes a number of conferences each year.
Miroslav Begovic
Schulz received her Ph.D. in EE from the University of Minnesota. She currently holds the Paslay Professorship of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Kansas State University, where she is also First Lady.
Begovic did his undergraduate and masters work in EE at Belgrade University, Yugoslavia before coming to Virginia Tech for his Ph.D. He is a professor in the School of Electrical Engineering at Georgia Tech and a member of ECEââ¬â¢s Advisory Board.
