ECE 4606 - Radio Engineering (3C)

Course Description

Wireless application circuit design for gain and filter control at radio frequencies to interface the baseband processing systems and the antennas of communication systems. 4606: Design of amplitude, frequency, and pulse-modulated communication systems, including modulators, detectors, and the effects of noise. Design basics and guidelines for phaselocked loops and several power amplifier configurations.

Why take this course?

The second course uses these circuits in communication systems and discusses the principles of operation of several common systems. This course also studies the design of power amplifiers.

Learning Objectives

  • analyze AM and FM detector systems using the principles of modulation and demodulation;
  • analyze the spectral properties of modulated waveforms;
  • explain the design process of the overall communication system and the power amplifiers used in the system.
